Getting Started with Fish

Posted by Mommy Mia | Tuesday, January 13, 2009

Do any of you have a fish tank? I am thinking about getting a fish tank and could really use some advice. I used to have fish when I was a kid but that was a really long time ago and they were fresh water fish. My son's pediatrician has a beautiful saltwater fish tank in his office. My son is absolutely enthralled with the brightly colored fish. The bright colors really capture his attention. I have thought about just having fresh water fish but the salt water fish are so much more vibrant in color. I would really love to buy salt water fish as well as buy live coral. These would be really beautiful to have in a fish tank. I found a Los Angeles fish store that has some really beautiful fish. The best part is that since I live in Texas, I can order online and get them by mail. Another plus is the fact that they have a 14 day live guarantee. Of course, I would still need to have the proper set up but at least if there is a guarantee then I can get replacements if needed. I have gotten some advice from my nephew that has a salt water tank. He loves it but he also has a lot of time to devote to it. I am not sure how much time I would have to devote to it. I really love the beautiful saltwater fish that are available.

I, too, would like to set up a fish tank! I would love to see pictures of your fish and fish tank when you set it up! Good luck!

I haven't ever had one, but I hear saltwater tanks are a LOT of work. And the fish are spendy. You might want to get your feet wet (no pun intended) with a fresh water tank. I have been toying with the idea of getting one myself, but with all the traveling we do I'm not sure it is a good idea.

I have 3 aquariums. There are some awesome fish you can get for a brackish water tank and the set-up, costs, etc. is a lot less. If money is no object, go for the salt water tanks.
