Laptop Abuse!

Posted by Mommy Mia | 12/03/2008 12:46:00 PM

I did not realize the abuse that I put my laptop through! I may end up getting investigated by the laptop abuse investigators. You can just imagine how bad it is when you have an almost two year old, two large dogs and a very clumsy me. I don't even have carpet in my house except for the bedrooms and my poor computer gets knocked in the floor a lot. I am so addicted to my computer that I take it everywhere I go. When I go anywhere I end up throwing it in the backseat of my truck along with all the other things I have to take with me(you know, the diaper bag, purse, toys, coupon organizer). Then it gets toys dropped on it. Oh, did I mention that my son is learning to drink out of a cup? So, with all of that, I have learned to really appreciate my laptop bags. Yes, I said bags-I keep an extra in case I need to do a really good cleanup on one of them. I really need to get a better bag to carry it in. Maybe Santa will bring me a new one like the Volt, it is a backpack and would have room for some of those extras I have to take-like a few diapers, snacks, etc.

Is it possible to be an organized blogger? I mean, come on, there has to be some way to figure out what you need to do and have some semblance of order. It seems like I can't even get all of my blogs posted on everyday. I would love to know how some of these people that have more than one blog keep themselves going and organized. What do you do to stay organized? I have tried to set up a schedule in chart form on my computer but have not used it because I have printing problems! Every time I want to print something, I have to go to the printer and plug it in. I have a wireless network but can't figure out how to set it up to print. My laptop is Vista and my desktop is the previous Windows(see-I can;t even remember the name of the old Windows program). I wish I could afford one of those wireless printers!UGGHH! I can;t even keep this post on track and organized! Sorry! Do any of you have any suggestions on being an "Organized Blogger"?? I need help!

More Water Problems!

Posted by Mommy Mia | 12/03/2008 01:12:00 AM

Well, it seems I can't win around here. I still have the water leak under my house and now to top it off, I was going to wash dishes just now and the faucet is leaking. That is all I need. Now I guess I will have to do some research on kitchen faucets so I can get new one. The one we have has a hose attached to the spigot and the hose is all frayed. I don;t think you can buy just the hose and hook it up. I think it would be easier to just replace the faucet. UGGHH!! Always something.

My Feet Hurt!

Posted by Mommy Mia | 12/03/2008 12:58:00 AM

Have you ever had really bad pain in your feet? I have gotten to the point that I can not walk very well sometimes. It is especially bad when I have been sitting for a while or when I first get up in the morning. I have had this problem before back when I had a regular job. I had to stand on my feet all day and this would lead to really bad foot pain! I would go through a pair of shoes in no time. I usually bought my shoes from cheap discount stores but I found that Dansko shoes were really good and helped me out a lot. After my experiences with cheap shoes and the pain I endured, I get good shoes now. The pain I have now is different than it was back then-this time it is the sides of my heels that hurt instead of the bottom. I have been thinking about going to the doctor but I really hate going because he will be mad because I have not been taking my medications like I should. Maybe it will get better without me having to go to the doctor. I hope so anyway, I don't know how much longer I can deal with the pain.

"Do It All" All-In-One Pan

Posted by Mommy Mia | 12/02/2008 04:01:00 PM

Recently one of my parent's renters was placed in the nursing home. She was a close friend of my mom for many years and she sold all of her belongings to my mom before her children came to get her. Mom in turn let all of us kids go through and get a few things. I found the most awesome pan in her stuff. It was brand new-never been used at all. She had a lot of things like that in her house. But this item took the cake. The paperwork called it an Do It All pan and it is made by Leyse Model #31105. It is a large round electric skillet with a non-stick coating. The lid is a large dome and is made of stainless steel. Now, we get to the good stuff- I can cook a whole 3 course meal in that pan. The first time I used it, I made fish with green beans and potatoes. The temperature gauge has a "keep warm" on it and it does just that. It does not make it too hot or let it get cold either. I use this pan at least 5 times a week. I have also made scrambled eggs, bacon, grilled cheese, meatballs, etc in it! It is really an All-in-One pan. I just wish I could find another one because I just know I am going to wear this one out if I continue to use it all the time. Stupid me lost the book that came with it. Well, not actually lost but just can't find it. The electric cord is really neat too. It has the probe that plugs into the skillet and then there is a magnetic connector that you hook to it and then plug it into the wall. I will try to get a picture of it to post on here so you can see what it looks like.

Edited to add: I figured out where to get one!! YIPEE!! These will be good gifts for the holidays.

I am going to start posting a "green" tip of the day. So be sure to stay tuned for great ideas to be "green" and work towards a better environment.

Today's "green" tip is to RECYCLE! Even if you don't have curbside recycling in your town, you can still recycle many items with very little effort! For example:

  • Cell phones can be recycled by checking with your local electronics stores. You can also donate old cell phones for use by different agencies. In our town they have a program for phones to be given to battered women.
  • Computers-A lot of computer manufacturer's have a recycling program and some may even give you a discount on your new computer if it is bought from them. If your manufacturer charges for recycling, check with local computer repair shops as some will be able to use the old parts.
  • Office Items-MyBoneYard takes used office items and even pays the shipping!
  • CFL light bulbs can be recycled by taking them by any Home Depot. This helps to keep mercury out of the landfills.
  • Ink Jet Cartridges can be recycled by returning them to the manufacturer or taking them to the local office supply store. Some stores will give you a package of paper in return for bringing in used cartridges. There are also stores that specialize in Ink that will take your cartridges.

Gift Idea for the Biker!

Posted by Mommy Mia | 12/01/2008 08:29:00 PM

I found the perfect gift for my sister-in-law! She got a Harley Davidson Motorcycle several years ago and recently said she is needing some new saddlebags. She has not been able to find any that she liked either in the store or online. I found this site with some really cool motorcycle accessories that I will have to tell her about. The name of the site is Cruiser Customizing and they have a lot of items to customize your cruiser! I bet she will be loving it!

Today is the day I start a great giveaway-just in time for your holiday baking! As some of you know, I am a Watkins Associate. Well, the reason I chose Watkins is easy-I LOVE their products!! I have several favorites-two of which are the Double Strength Vanilla and the Cinnamon. The vanilla is great to use for all of your cooking needs-it has the BEST flavor. I mean, I am sorry, but you just can't get this much flavor anywhere else-regular vanilla extracts lose their flavor in cooking due the the high alcohol content. Watkins vanilla has less alcohol so therefore it retains its flavor during cooking and freezing. I love taking it and putting a few drops in my Cokes and Dr Peppers. YUMMY!! As for the cinnamon-it too, is awesome! So, here is the deal-you can win an 11 oz bottle of the double strength vanilla and a 6 oz tin of ground cinnamon. You can earn up to 6 entries!!

The rules are as follows:

  1. Leave a comment to this post for 1 entry,
  2. Go to the Watkins website and tell me what other products you would like to have for 1 entry, (if you decide to register on the website-please use my Associate ID of 377015 so I will get credit if you buy something!)
  3. Subscribe to my feed for 1 entry,
  4. Post on your blog about it and link back to this post and get 1 entry,
  5. Leave a comment on one of my other blogs (listed in the sidebar) and get 1 entry,
  6. Stumble this post for 1 entry.
Please leave a separate comment on this post for each entry. Contest will run until Monday December 8th at 5:00 PM CST. Winners will be chosen by random.org and will be announced on Tuesday, December 9th. Open to residents of the US only due to postage costs.

For information about ordering online or becoming a rep yourself please visit my Watkins page! BTW-I am not a pushy sales person-which is probably why I don't have many sales or anyone signed up under me! I signed up in order to get savings on the products I use everyday!

Affordable Eyewear!

Posted by Mommy Mia | 11/30/2008 10:46:00 PM

I think I have told you before that I am in desperate need of some new eyeglasses. I think I finally found a place that I might be able to afford to get some new prescription eyeglasses cheap. It really stinks not being able to see any more than 4 inches from your face. Yes, I am that nearsighted! Thank goodness they make thinner lenses nowadays! Anyway, I went to Optical4Less and they have complete prescription eyeglasses starting at $15 a pair! With this you get free anti-reflective coating, UV protection coating, anti-scratch hard coating, eyeglasses hard case, quality glasses cleaning cloth, professional customer service, free lens customizing of rimless eyeglasses, and free international shipping! What I really like is the "virtual fitting". You can upload your photograph and "try on" the glasses to see what they will look like on your face. I think that is awesome because I would be leary to buy them with out at least knowing how the eye glasses would look on my face. I am still sold on the prices though! I mean, think about it, you could buy several pairs and wear a different pair everyday. People carry a different purse with different outfits, so why shouldn't you be able to do the same with your glasses? It would be fun to see how people react! You can even get tinted sunglasses and bifocal reading glasses. I love the variety of frames that they have and you can get your glasses within about 2 weeks. That is really quick to order something like that and get it so soon! In searching around their website I also found that they carry contact lenses! I usually wear contacts but not soft ones. I have been wanting to convert to soft contacts so maybe now is the time! I hate wearing my glasses all the time, especially when the sun is really bright and I can not wear my sunglasses. But then I could get some sunglasses from Optical4Less too!

Totally Frustrated!

You know, it seems like just when things start looking up, something has to crap on you! We have been battling this water leak for a month now and can't seem to get it fixed. We got the new water bill and it was $100 -which is only $50 more than what it usually is BUT it is getting worse. You can hear the water in the pipes in the bathtub and it was just a little noise and it has gotten much louder. So, I am dreading the next water bill. On top of that, we still have not replaced the 2 rotten posts on our back porch. The wind was atrocious today and I just knew it was going to blow our porch down. The lights even went off for about an hour or so. We live out in the boonies, so when the wind blows the lights go out! I was looking at a friends blog today and they had ice where she is in Georgia!! UUGGHH! I hate ice-when we first moved here, we were without lights for 2 weeks because of an ice storm. I am thankful that it has not snowed or anything yet this year. I just know that when it does snow that we will be minus a porch. Hopefully we will get it fixed by then. I think we are going to go out in the woods and see if we can find some cedar posts to replace the posts with. They will look nice and will be much cheaper than going out to buy new ones. Anyway, it is always something! I guess that is just the joy of owning your own home!

I have been checking out all of the great deals at Kmart online. I don't exactly have a store here where I live but I can surely shop online for some great deals. They have some really great prices on a variety of gifts for your loved ones. They actually have 25,000 gifts that are less than $25!! I don't know about you but that fits pretty good into my very tight budget! For the handy man (or woman) in your life, you can get Craftsman tools for less than $25. For the person that likes their table to be dressed up for dinner, they have Martha Stewart Nickel Pillar candle holders.

For my little boy, I would love to get the Disney Cars stoplight. It is only $19.99 and he would be ecstatic to get it! He is a Cars fanatic! They also have a Craftsmen Tool Bag Combo for $9.99. That would be great for me to keep my tools in around the house and have one for my truck too! I will have to check out the tools too-so I can fill up the tool bags. Oops, I forgot, I am supposed to be shopping for others! Oh well, I can dream can't I? Also, if you are like me and can not go to a store, you can shop online and if you make a purchase of $49 or more, you get FREE shipping! If you sign up for Kmart emails you can get 2 $5.00 Kmart coupons.

Do You Have Dogs?

Posted by Mommy Mia | 11/29/2008 09:40:00 PM

I am really mad right now! I have been sitting here ever since I got home stewing about the fact that I almost hit 2 dogs on my way home from town. WHY do people have dogs if they are not going to take care of them. I don't care if you live in the country or not-you still need to keep your dogs either in a fence or in the house and walk them on a leash! They are living animals for God's sake! Take care of them. They give you unconditional love and devotion and you don't give a crap if they are out in the street where people are driving 70 MPH! If you can't afford a leash or a fence, then you can not afford a dog! I have 2 dogs of my own and they are NEVER outside with being in the fence or on a leash. I love my dogs and they are part of the family-I mean heck, they even sleep with us! A 90 pound boxer and a 50 pound English bulldog in a queen size bed with hubby, me, and the little man! I have been known to fall out of the bed a time or two-well, not really fall-it is more like pushed out when Rambo decides to stretch his legs! Anyway-if you have a dog-take care of it!
